"Payrexx QR Pay" is awarded the Innovation Prize of the Bernese Oberland Economy
With the "Payrexx QR Pay" project, the payment provider Payrexx is making the leap from pure online commerce to an on-site payment solution. The simple, intuitive and unique approach of the Swiss payment provider was honored this week with the Innovation Award of the Bernese Oberland Economy.
Want to let your customers pay quickly and easily, using all common Swiss payment methods, simply and securely from a single source? No problem, thanks to the Thun-based start-up Payrexx. The payment provider has set itself the task of enabling anyone and everyone to enter the world of commerce. Until now, Payrexx has focused primarily on the Internet, but with its "Payrexx QR Pay" project, it is now also conquering local stores. And all without expensive equipment or complex technology.
Payrexx has received special recognition for this bold move: It was awarded one of the three innovation prizes of the Volkswirtschaft Berner Oberland. The award was presented on January 11 during the Bernese Oberland Economy 's New Year's Apéro at the magnificent Hotel Viktoria-Jungfrau in Interlaken.
"This prize is not only an award, but also an incentive. It confirms that innovation and the courage to take risks pay off and that we are on the right track with our vision of enriching the economy of the Bernese Oberland," says a delighted Ivan Schmid, founder and CEO of Payrexx.
How Payrexx QR Pay works
Payrexx QR Pay offers many advantages for merchants. For example, a small coffee shop does not need an expensive credit card reader, but can create the QR code itself with the help of Payrexx, print it out and attach it to the checkout. Or the florist at the weekly market can add a QR code directly to their bouquets so that market strollers no longer have to queue at the checkout, but can pay directly and take their bouquet with them. The retailer defines a fixed, open or minimum amount in advance. The latter is particularly suitable for tips or donations.
End customers, in turn, can scan the QR code directly via the TWINT app or using the camera function on their smartphone. In this way, Payrexx is expanding TWINT's payment methods: Payrexx QR Pay offers customers a wide range of global payment methods to choose from, such as Google Pay, PostFinance, Apple Pay, Visa, Mastercard, AliPay and WeChat Pay. The market is therefore opened up to foreign visitors, which makes Payrexx QR Pay particularly interesting for the tourism sector. Payrexx QR Pay is also very useful for vending machines and all types of unattended terminals, as a suitable QR code is generated dynamically via the interface for each payment.

Strengthening the local economy
In addition to agility and innovation, Payrexx also aims to strengthen the region. The payment provider has always focused on Swiss SMEs, including companies from the Bernese Oberland. No matter how small a business may be or how little technical know-how the operators have: Payrexx enables anyone and everyone to sell their goods online or on site without getting entangled in complicated clarifications with banks or credit card providers. Payrexx also enters into targeted partnerships with Swiss companies: in recent years, partnerships have been established with TWINT, Reka, NAKA, Centi, Bob invoice and HeidiPay.
As a steadily growing company in the heart of Thun, Payrexx actively creates apprenticeships and jobs. Last year alone, four new positions were filled. At the same time, Payrexx is used by merchants from all over the world. It was this international appeal, coupled with the young company's regional efforts and innovative way of thinking, that convinced the jury of the Volkswirtschaft Berner Oberland.
