Payrexx expands management with COO Fjona Veselji
Fjona Veselji is Head of Operations at Payrexx AG and has strengthened the management of the payment service provider since July 2022. In the interview, she briefly introduces herself and explains what new challenges and opportunities her new role brings.
Fjona Veselji has been part of Payrexx AG, a payment company based in Thun, since 2019. As Chief Operating Officer (COO) she takes over an important function in the company and since the beginning of July 2022 she now strengthens the management of Payrexx AG.
In this interview, she and CEO Ivan Schmid talk about their new role and explain where Payrexx is headed.
Fjona, who are you and what brings you to Payrexx AG?
"I'm Fjona, 30 years old and I'm from the delightful tourist town of Interlaken. I studied at Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and South East European University and have a Master of Science in Online Business & Marketing and a Bachelor in Information Systems & Management.
I dedicate my free time to my family, sports and creativity. I love being outdoors in nature and am not afraid to try new things. All these activities give me energy and help me maintain a healthy work-life balance, which is not always easy in such a leadership position.
I have always been interested in new and innovative business models and find it fascinating how outdated industries are being turned around.
The payment industry is a fast-moving and highly controversial market. It requires a high degree of professionalism in a nevertheless relaxed working environment. In addition, the industry is strongly characterized by innovation, technological progress and regulatory requirements.
It is precisely these interests that led me to Payrexx - a payment company in the middle of the Bernese Oberland? What could be more exciting?"

You have been part of the Payrexx management team since July 1, 2022. What exactly is your job at Payrexx and what new challenges are you most looking forward to?
"At Payrexx, I am responsible for operations and day-to-day business. Among other things, I manage the areas of customer support, onboarding, KYC, compliance and take care of our acquiring partnerships.
It is my responsibility to ensure that daily business runs as smoothly as possible, and that operational processes are defined and optimized to ensure maximum efficiency and continuous development.
As a financial intermediary, Payrexx is subject to strict regulatory guidelines. Finding the right balance - remaining compliant at all times while still being able to offer a simple payment solution - is a big challenge that I enjoy tackling."

Ivan, why was Fjona added to the management team?
"Fjona is a very reliable personality with integrity who enriches the management of Payrexx, on the one hand with her in-depth technical knowledge, but also with her analytical way of thinking.
In addition, as a compliance officer, she has extensive knowledge in the legal compliance of all payment processes and business procedures within Payrexx."

Payrexx AG was founded in Thun in 2015 and since then many exciting projects and topics have emerged. Fjona, what would you describe as the most important milestones at Payrexx?
"Payrexx is the only payment platform in Switzerland that offers local payment methods such as TWINT, Postfinance, Mastercard, VISA, Samsung Pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay from a single source and with an acceptance contract. Any successful registration before 4 p.m., will be verified and activated the same day.
With over 100+ additional payment methods available on the payment platform, the needs of European merchants are also fully covered.
Payrexx is also one of the few providers that have set up their own payment platform and offer customized e-commerce tools such as the mini-shop, QR-Pay, payment links, etc. But I see our team as the biggest milestone. Payrexx has an incredible internal maker culture, a very ambitious and professional team that drives the payment world forward every day with utmost enthusiasm."

Beyond that, which projects and topics will become important for Payrexx, or more precisely, are to be tackled or are already in the works?'
"We want to give everyone access to e-commerce commerce with an easy-to-use and integrating payment solution. A big topic remains and will be automation, we want to become even faster and better. The expansion of our platform product is also on the agenda. The trend and popularity of marketplaces continues to grow, Payrexx already offers customized marketplace and platform solutions. Here we would like to be able to deliver even more functions and integration options to third-party systems."

"The success of our users is our top priority! We make sure that digital payments are secure, efficient, integrable, accessible and comply with international standards. We strive to become a leading fintech company in Europe and THE payment partner for every innovative and digital SME in Switzerland."
