Fjona Veselji has been part of Payrexx AG, a Payment company from Thun, since 2019. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), she holds an important role within the company, and since the beginning of July 2022, she has strengthened the management team of Payrexx AG.

In the interview, she and CEO Ivan Schmid talk about her new role and explain the direction Payrexx is headed.

Fjona, who are you and what brings you to Payrexx AG?

“I am Fjona, 30 years old, and I come from the charming tourist town of Interlaken. I studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and at the South East European University, holding a Master of Science in Online-Business & Marketing as well as a Bachelor's in Information Systems & Management.

I dedicate my free time to family, sports, and creativity. I love being outdoors in nature and am not afraid to try new things. All these activities give me energy and help me maintain a healthy work-life balance, which is not always easy in such a leadership position.

I have always been interested in new and innovative business models and find it fascinating how outdated industries are being reinvented.

The Payment industry is a fast-paced and highly competitive market. It requires a high level of professionalism in a relaxed work environment. The industry is heavily influenced by innovation, technological advancement, and regulatory requirements.

It is exactly these interests that led me to Payrexx — a Payment company in the heart of the Bernese Oberland? What could be more exciting.”

Since July 1, 2022, you have been part of the management team at Payrexx. What exactly is your role at Payrexx, and what new challenges are you most looking forward to?

“At Payrexx, I am responsible for the operational area and day-to-day business. Among other things, I lead the areas of Customer Support, Onboarding, KYC, Compliance, and take care of our Acquiring partnerships.

It is my responsibility to ensure that the daily business runs as smoothly as possible, and that operational processes are defined and optimized to ensure maximum efficiency and continuous development.

As a financial intermediary, Payrexx is subject to strict regulatory guidelines. Finding the right balance — always remaining compliant while still offering a simple Payment solution — is a major challenge that I am happy to take on.”

Ivan, why was Fjona appointed to the management team?

“Fjona is a very reliable and integral personality who enriches the management of Payrexx, not only with her in-depth expertise but also with her analytical thinking.

She also possesses extensive knowledge as a Compliance Officer regarding the legal compliance of all Payment processes and business operations within Payrexx.”

Payrexx AG was founded in Thun in 2015, and many exciting projects and topics have emerged since then. Fjona, what would you describe as the most important milestones at Payrexx?

“Payrexx is the only Payment platform in Switzerland that offers local payment methods such as TWINT, Postfinance, Mastercard, VISA, Samsung Pay, Google Pay, and Apple Pay from a single source and with a single acceptance contract. Every successful registration before 4 p.m. is reviewed and activated on the same day.

With over 100+ additional payment methods available on the Payment platform, the needs of European Comerciante are fully met.

Payrexx is also one of the few providers to have developed its own Payment platform and offers customized e-commerce tools such as the Mini-Shop, QR-Pay, payment links, etc. However, I view our team as our greatest milestone. Payrexx has an incredible internal maker culture, a very ambitious and professional team that drives forward the world of Payment with the greatest enthusiasm every day.”

Which projects and topics will be important for Payrexx in the future, specifically what will be tackled or are already in progress?

“We want to provide everyone with access to e-commerce commerce, with a user-friendly and integrating Payment solution. A major topic will remain automation; we want to become even faster and better. The expansion of our platform product is also on the agenda. The trend and popularity of marketplaces continue to rise, and Payrexx already offers tailored marketplace and platform solutions. Here, we want to be able to provide even more functions and integration options to third-party systems.”
