Flower variety with payment variety: That's how Florist Ali uses Payrexx QR Pay
The Thun flower shop “Florist Ali” has been around for 35 years. Until now, loyal customers could only pay with cash or by invoice, but thanks to Payrexx QR Pay, they can now settle their bouquets, arrangements, and wreaths with credit card or via TWINT.

With a skillful grip, Florentyna Hödl plucks one flower after another from the pots. Roses, tulips, freesias, purple, orange, white. With her right hand, she holds the plants, with her left she continually adds new ones. “The right grip is crucial for a beautiful bouquet,” she explains, then strides briskly to the back of the shop, “if it’s not held correctly, it won’t come out right.” Her apprentice, Noëlle Locher, could actually do it much better, the manager says with a smile, but she is currently a few meters away, busy with a large arrangement. With fingers firmly wrapped around the greenery, Hödl now adds various cut greens. Thus, step by step, flower by flower, leaf by leaf, a small masterpiece is formed.
The finished arrangement will cost fifty francs. The owner of the florist Florist Ali has no use for odd amounts. The visit should be simple and uncomplicated, from ordering to paying. The latter has always been the same in the last 35 years, in which the Thun traditional business has already existed: “Either cash or on account,” Hödl summarizes. A model that, in an increasingly digital age where fewer people carry notes or coins in their pockets, simply no longer worked.
A fast and appreciated payment solution
A payment solution was needed, something uncomplicated and simple, fitting for the young owner’s business, who only took over the shop from the long-term owner Stefan Ali in January 2024. So Hödl’s father, who always lends a hand with digital matters, contacted Payrexx AG. A company from the same city, he thought, and quickly arranged a consultation appointment. On the agreed day, Mr. Hödl visited the Payrexx office – although the appointment was actually supposed to be online. True to the family’s mentality, direct and personal, without unnecessary detours.
On the glass table in front of Florentyna Hödl’s cash register today stands a display with a purple background and delicate floral drawings, in the middle a simple QR code and above it the inscription: Scan + pay. “Our customers really appreciate that we offer Payrexx,” the florist explains and starts trimming the ends of her bouquet with garden shears. Especially the simplicity and speed convince her visitors. Just as swiftly as the stems are snipped off, the payment process via Payrexx QR Pay also works.
“Nowadays, everyone is used to working and paying with the smartphone. You always have it with you, just hold it up, scan the code – and done!” – Florentyna Hödl

With credit card or TWINT
In addition, there’s the variety of payment methods: Not only can Hödl’s customers pay with a credit card, but also the payment method TWINT, which is particularly popular in Switzerland, is integrated into the Payrexx tool. Just the fact that there is now a TWINT sticker on the entrance door is reason enough for many passers-by to shop with her. Hödl’s store is centrally located, on the edge of Thun’s old town, and thus attracts not only loyal regular customers but also pedestrians.
For her as a new store owner, there are also other points of focus, says Florentyna Hödl further. For example, that the collaboration with Payrexx is pleasant – “no detours, no holding loops, I can just call” – or that creating a QR code works intuitively and quickly. “And what is also particularly important to me,” she adds, placing the finished bouquet in the vase until its pickup, “we don’t need a Kartenlesegerät and only have low transaction fees. Payrexx is also a great offer in terms of price.”

The team is manageable: Besides Florentyna Hödl, the apprentice Noëlle Locher (left) and the former owner
Stefan Ali also work in the flower shop. And Hödl’s parents also help out from time to time.
