TWINT
TWINT is a Swiss mobile payment solution created in 2017 through the merger of Paymit and TWINT. The app is backed by the largest Swiss banks and enables payments via QR code, NFC and in-app — online and at the POS. With over 5 million active users, TWINT is the most widely used payment app in Switzerland.
For online Comerciantes, TWINT is almost a must in the Swiss checkout: payment is made by scanning a QR code or via app switch (mobile). For on-site payments, TWINT can be accepted via NFC at the terminal, by QR sticker (without terminal) or via cash register integration. TWINT also offers features such as vouchers, donations and peer-to-peer payments.
Since 2024, TWINT has offered "Pay later" — a BNPL (Buy Now Pay Later) feature that allows TWINT users to pay for purchases only after 30 days. TWINT is a purely Swiss payment method and is only available in Switzerland — it is not an option for the German or Austrian market.
