In Switzerland, almost a third of all food produced each year ends up as waste (2.8 million tons per year), which has far-reaching and unnecessary consequences for animals, humans and our planet.
The non-profit association Madame Frigo is therefore campaigning against food waste in Switzerland with public fridges and awareness-raising measures. True to the motto "Plates instead of garbage cans", food can be exchanged at the current 90 locations throughout Switzerland - bring what you no longer need and take home what is still missing at home. Together with over 400 volunteers, over 100 tons of food were saved last year.
Together against food waste
Despite this great progress, there is still a lot to do. For 2022, Madame Frigo has therefore set itself the goal of increasing the number of locations to 150! With the help of its current Christmas donation campaign, Madame Frigo wants to achieve this goal as quickly as possible. Every single donation contributes to the fight against food waste and creates a more sustainable future. Madame Frigo is also raising awareness of food waste via its website and social media to encourage as many people as possible to get involved.

For this reason, Madame Frigo relies on donations and support from private individuals and partners to cover its expenses.
What's behind Madame Frigo
To ensure that the fridges are maintained, every Madame Frigo fridge is run by volunteers. They take care of the hygiene and check the contents.
Madame Frigo uses the Donation Tool from Payrexx to collect donations. Donations for projects can be collected easily and digitally using the individual donation form. In addition, all desired payment methods such as TWINT, Mastercard, Visa or invoice can be set up with just a few clicks. Madame Frigo integrates the donation form directly on its website and also uses it simply as a link on social media.
Another idea for the future is for Madame Frigo to use the new QR Pay tool from Payrexx to attach a QR code to her fridges so that people can donate directly on site using any payment method they wish.

With Payrexx , you have a dashboard where you can track all incoming donations and view various statistics for data evaluation.
Over 200 additional payment methods can be integrated.
With the Donation Tool, a live donation barometer can be added to the donation form, which shows the amount of donations received in real time.
The QR Pay tool can be used to create a QR code that leads directly to the virtual payment terminal. The QR code simply needs to be scanned and the payment details entered and donations can be received. The QR code can be used both online and offline. You can also choose between a fixed and a free amount. The biggest advantage of the QR Pay tool is that you can choose any payment provider you want, so everyone has the opportunity to donate.
