Payrexx turns the cell phone into a card reader

With "Payrexx Tap to Pay", receiving payments is now even easier. The brand new SoftPOS application replaces expensive card readers and eliminates annoying fixed costs. Simply install it on your cell phone and collect payments, whether by card or TWINT. Fast, simple, secure - perfect for SMEs, associations and non-profit organizations.

Let's take the local football club as an example: The club tournament is just around the corner, the table has been set up and all the volunteers are ready for action. A catering stand is set up to cater for the players and visitors, and the drinks, deep fryers and cakes have already been organized. All that's missing now is a simple way to collect money.

Instead of limiting itself to cash, registering with TWINT or even buying an expensive terminal, the association opted for a simple yet comprehensive solution - Payrexx. Or more precisely: for Payrexx Tap to Pay.

What exactly is Payrexx Tap to Pay?

The Swiss payment provider from Thun specializes in the needs of SMEs, associations, start-ups and non-profit organizations and knows that it has to be uncomplicated, user-friendly and cost-effective. This is exactly where the newly developed "Tap to Pay" product comes into play.

SoftPOS technology, short for "Software Point of Sale", allows retailers to accept payments directly via their smartphone. With the Android application, anyone and everyone can easily collect payments on site, directly via their own device and without complex registration processes or expensive technology. Mobile, flexible and modern.

This is how it works:

  • Register with Payrexx: The football club creates an account with Payrexx. Thanks to the new FREE subscription, there are no monthly costs and the otherwise laborious verification process is simple and quick: as soon as the necessary data has been entered, the club's account is checked and activated on the same day.

  • Download the app: Either the club organizes a few POS phones that are stationed on site, or the helpers download the app individually to their Android device. Either way, Payrexx Tap to Pay can be used on any number of devices with just one account. The first device is free of charge, while the association pays CHF 4 per month for all additional devices.

  • Receive payments at lightning speed: Anyone with an NFC-enabled cell phone can now collect payments. Simply type in the amount and have the tournament visitors hold their credit or debit card up to their cell phone. And presto, the amount has been transferred. TWINT or mobile wallets such as Apple Pay or Samsung Pay can also be accepted.

All incoming transactions are clearly collected in the football club's Payrexx account, so that the cashier later has a clear overview of all amounts collected. And once the tournament is over, the Payrexx use cases don't stop there: The club can also process membership fees, trial training sessions, crowdfunding or jersey sales directly via the various Payrexx products.

Payrexx Tap to Pay is of course not only suitable for the exemplary football club. The application was developed in such a way that a variety of use cases are conceivable. Whether fitness centers, swimming pools, kiosks, food trucks, hairdressers, florists, cleaners, craftsmen, dentists, cab drivers, street artists or music companies: Tap to Pay can be used to receive payments wherever the cell phone has Internet reception.

What does Payrexx want to achieve with the new product?

For Payrexx, Tap to Pay is a milestone on the way from a pure e-commerce provider to an omnichannel provider. While the company from Thun has mainly focused on online merchants to date, Tap to Pay is now the first product to specifically target brick-and-mortar retailers. Payrexx is thus tapping into a new target group - consisting of small merchants, associations, non-profit organizations or even clubs that Payrexx wants to support in receiving payments on site.

While international and listed payment providers focus on large, high-revenue companies and usually only offer poor conditions to small companies, Payrexx is committed to precisely these companies. Having started out as a start-up in Thun, Payrexx is well aware of the challenges faced by SMEs. Payrexx's vision is the same: everyone should be able to do business - regardless of their experience or financial means.

This attitude is ultimately also reflected in the costs. As these can be crucial for small merchants, they were deliberately kept as low as possible with Payrexx Tap to Pay. Both the Payrexx account and the application can be acquired free of charge. With transaction costs of 1.65 % + CHF 0.15, Payrexx can not only keep up with the competition, but in some cases even undercut them.

Payrexx Tap to Pay is still only available for Android devices, as Apple only released the NFC technology for Swiss applications this year. Payrexx is working hard to bring Tap to Pay to the market for iPhones and iPads as soon as possible.
