Let's take the local football club as an example: The club tournament is just around the corner, the table is set up and all volunteer helpers are ready to go. A food stall is meant to take care of the well-being of the players and visitors, the drinks, deep fryers and cakes are already organised. Now only a simple way to take payments is missing.
Instead of limiting itself to cash, registering separately with TWINT or even buying an expensive terminal, the club decides on the simple yet comprehensive solution - Payrexx. Or more precisely: Payrexx Tap to Pay.
What exactly is Payrexx Tap to Pay?
The Swiss payment provider from Thun has specialised in the needs of SMEs, clubs, start-ups and non-profit organisations and knows: it has to be straightforward, user-friendly and cost-effective. This is exactly where the newly developed product “Tap to Pay” comes in.
SoftPOS technology, short for “Software Point of Sale”, allows merchants to accept payments directly via their smartphone. With the Android application, anyone can easily take payments on site, directly via their own device and without complex registration processes or expensive technology. Mobile, flexible and modern.
This is how it works:
Register with Payrexx: The football club creates an account with Payrexx. Thanks to the new FREE subscription, there are no monthly costs and the otherwise cumbersome verification process is also simple and fast: As soon as the necessary data has been entered, the club's account is checked and activated on the same day.
Download the app: Either the club organises a few checkout phones to be stationed on site, or the helpers download the app individually to their Android device. Either way, Payrexx Tap to Pay can be used with just one account on any number of devices. The first device is free, and for all additional devices the club pays CHF 4 per month.
Receive payments in no time: Anyone with an NFC-capable phone can now take payments. Simply enter the amount and let the tournament visitors hold their credit or debit card to the phone. And just like that, the amount has been transferred. TWINT or mobile wallets such as Apple Pay or Samsung Pay can also be accepted.
All incoming transactions are clearly collected in the football club's Payrexx account, so that the cashier later has a clear overview of all amounts received. And once the tournament is over, Payrexx's use cases do not stop there: The club can also process membership fees, trial trainings, crowdfunding or jersey sales directly via the various Payrexx products.
Payrexx Tap to Pay is of course not only suitable for the example football club. The application was developed so that a wide range of use cases are conceivable. Whether fitness centre, swimming pool, kiosk, food truck, hairdresser, florist, cleaning staff, tradespeople, dentist, taxi driver, street artist or music society: Wherever the phone has internet reception, Tap to Pay can be used to receive payments.
What is the new product meant to achieve?
For Payrexx, Tap to Pay is a milestone on the way from a pure e-commerce provider to an omnichannel provider. While the company from Thun has so far mainly focused on online merchants, Tap to Pay is now the first product that specifically targets brick-and-mortar retail. Payrexx is thus opening up a new target group - consisting of small merchants, associations, non-profit organisations or, indeed, clubs, which Payrexx wants to support in receiving payments on site.
While international and listed payment providers focus on large, high-revenue companies and usually offer only poor conditions to the smaller ones, Payrexx stands up precisely for these. Having started as a start-up in Thun, Payrexx knows exactly the challenges of an SME. Accordingly, Payrexx's vision is also: All people should be able to do business - regardless of their experience or financial means.
This attitude is ultimately also reflected in the costs. Since these can be crucial for small merchants, they have been deliberately kept as low as possible with Payrexx Tap to Pay. Both the Payrexx account and the application can be obtained free of charge. With transaction costs of 1.65 % + 0.15 CHF, Payrexx can also not only keep up with the competition, but in some cases even undercut it.
Payrexx Tap to Pay is still only available for Android devices, as Apple only released NFC technology for Swiss applications this year. Payrexx is working at full speed to bring Tap to Pay to market for iPhones and iPads as soon as possible as well.
