Let's take the local football club as an example: The club tournament is just around the corner, the schedule is set up, and all the volunteers are ready. A refreshment stand should ensure the well-being of the players and visitors, and the drinks, deep fryers, and cakes are already organized. Now, only a simple way to collect payments is missing.

Instead of restricting to cash, registering with TWINT separately, or even buying an expensive terminal, the club opts for the simple yet comprehensive solution – Payrexx. Or more precisely: Payrexx Tap to Pay.

What exactly is Payrexx Tap to Pay?

The Swiss payment provider from Thun specializes in the needs of SMEs, clubs, startups, and non-profit organizations and knows: It must be uncomplicated, user-friendly, and cost-effective. This is precisely where the newly developed product "Tap to Pay" comes into play.

The SoftPOS technology, short for "Software Point of Sale," allows merchants to accept payments directly via their smartphone. With the Android application, anyone can easily collect payments on-site, directly via their device without complex registration processes or expensive equipment. Mobile, flexible, and modern.

Here's how it works:

All incoming transactions are clearly collected in the Payrexx account of the football club, so the cashier later has a clear overview of all amounts received. And even after the tournament is over, the applications of Payrexx don't stop: The club can also process membership fees, trial workouts, crowdfunding, or jersey sales directly through the various Payrexx products.

Naturally, Payrexx Tap to Pay is suitable not only for the example football club. The application is developed such that a multitude of use cases is possible. Whether fitness centers, swimming pools, kiosks, food trucks, hairdressers, florists, cleaning professionals, craftsmen, dentists, taxi drivers, street performers, or music societies: Wherever a mobile phone has internet reception, Tap to Pay can be used to receive payments.

What should the new product achieve?

For Payrexx, Tap to Pay is a milestone in the transition from pure e-commerce to an omnichannel provider. While the company from Thun has so far primarily focused on online merchants, Tap to Pay is now the first product aimed specifically at physical retail. Thus, Payrexx is tapping into a new target group – consisting of small merchants, associations, non-profit organizations, or clubs that Payrexx wants to support in receiving payments on-site.

While international and publicly traded payment providers focus on large, high-revenue companies and often offer poor conditions to the small ones, Payrexx is specifically committed to them. Having started as a startup in Thun, Payrexx knows exactly the challenges faced by SMEs. Accordingly, Payrexx's vision is: Everyone should be able to engage in trade – regardless of their experience or financial capabilities.

This attitude is ultimately reflected in the costs as well. Since these can be crucial for small merchants, they have been kept as low as possible at Payrexx Tap to Pay. Both the Payrexx account and the application can be obtained for free. With transaction costs of 1.65% + 0.15 CHF, Payrexx not only keeps up with the competition but in some cases even undercuts them.

Payrexx Tap to Pay is still only available for Android devices since Apple only released the NFC technology for Swiss applications this year. Payrexx is working diligently to bring Tap to Pay to market for iPhones and iPads as soon as possible.
