The Swiss payment provider Payrexx has entered into a partnership with Newland Payment Technology (NPT), a global provider of payment terminals and technology solutions, to launch its own product line of card readers for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
The partnership with Newland is a major milestone for Payrexx and enables the company to launch its first fully branded terminal. While Payrexx previously offered payment terminals exclusively via the External provider NAKA, the new product line offers a more consistent experience for merchants in terms of hardware, software, onboarding and support, whilst giving the company greater control over branding and customisation.
Payrexx chose Newland after a comprehensive evaluation of various terminal providers. Decisive factors were the breadth of Newland's device portfolio, the flexibility in implementing Payrexx's customisation requirements, the collaborative development approach and a competitive offering.
Another key differentiator was Newland's Terminal Operations Management System (TOMS), which allows Payrexx to remotely manage and support its terminals. Thanks to TOMS, terminals can be deployed with minimal configuration effort, diagnosed remotely and updated centrally. This enables Payrexx to provide the fast, personalised support for merchants that is at the heart of their offering.
One device, all major payment methods
The rollout begins with the Newland N910 Pro, a compact and powerful entry-level Android SmartPOS terminal. The portfolio will then be expanded to include other specially customised devices – including the N950K – allowing Payrexx to respond flexibly to different industries, price segments and merchant requirements.
The card readers support Visa, Mastercard and TWINT, one of the most widely used payment methods in Switzerland and a popular QR payment solution across the country. The user-friendly terminals are delivered pre-configured and ready to use, so business owners can start with minimal setup effort.
The devices also offer options for mobile connectivity via SIM card, allowing businesses to accept payments anywhere with mobile reception. This supports a wide range of use cases, from independent retailers to restaurants, hotels and tourism businesses operating in remote locations, including mountain regions across Switzerland.
