The Swiss financial service provider Payrexx expands mobile payments in online shops with Samsung Pay

Through the partnership of Payrexx with Samsung, Payrexx users in Switzerland can seamlessly offer mobile payments via Samsung Pay. Samsung Pay is the mobile payment solution for Samsung Galaxy smartphones and the Galaxy Watch. The app provides worldwide, contactless payments in brick-and-mortar stores as well as browser-based online and in-app payments in distance selling with the stored credit, prepaid, or debit card.

In recent years, there has been a significant increase in mobile payments. According to studies, payment by smartphone is becoming increasingly popular in both stationary and online retail and is likely to gain even more importance in the future. A survey on the preferred payment method for internet purchases in Switzerland revealed that 51% of respondents prefer mobile payment.

The first Payrexx Merchants are already benefiting from the mobile payment solution

Among Payrexx users, the availability of Samsung Pay is met with great interest. The first 100 Merchants have already activated the new payment method, including Parking Lucerne.

The website of Parking Lucerne offers various options around parking in the city of Lucerne. Not only can all available parking garages and their occupancy be viewed, but a comprehensive range of different parking options is also provided. To facilitate online payments for the “Lucerne Parking Card”, Parking Lucerne relies on Payrexx’s payment solution, which offers the most common payment methods including Samsung Pay from a single source.

“Offering the most popular payment methods not only facilitates the completion of purchases but also makes it significantly more attractive.”

— Etienne Bucher, Managing Director of Bahnhofplatz Car Park Ltd, Lucerne.

How payment with Samsung Pay works

For customers, using it is simple: choose Samsung Pay at checkout, enter the email address of the Samsung account (only on desktop PCs or tablets), and authorize the payment on the smartphone. This is securely done via fingerprint or PIN; and the purchase is completed in seconds. No additional payment data is needed for paying for online purchases with Samsung Pay. Through two-factor authentication, tokenization, and encrypted transmission, customer information remains protected. Besides tokenization, Samsung Pay also supports preauthorization.
