While Friedrich Schiller’s «William Tell» is being performed on stage, Payrexx terminals help keep things in order in parts of the catering area, the Tell shop and ticket sales at the box office. It is still quiet in the Tellspielarena in Matten near Interlaken. A few visitors stroll around between market stalls and tables, waiting for their behind-the-scenes tour to begin. In the catering section, preparations are being made for the approaching rush of visitors. Everything must be ready when "William Tell" makes his grand entrance on stage and shoots the apple from his son's head in probably the most famous scene.
"The majority of theatre visitors only appear shortly before the start of the performance," reveals Franziska Werner. She is the one who does the daily closing at night and checks the transactions the next day. "At that moment, everything has to be correct and run reliably." Especially in such moments, you can rely on the evaluations from the Payrexx card terminals.
Learnings from the pilot phase
Before Payrexx launched the new card readers on the market in October 2025, they went through an extensive pilot phase with selected merchants. This also included the Tellspiele Interlaken. Seemingly, the cooperation was convincing, as two years later, the Payrexx terminal devices are still in use at various locations across the premises.
Nevertheless, some important insights were gained during the trial year, Franziska Werner recalls. "First of all, we had to turn off the receipt printing – the amount of paper rolls being used was simply too huge!" What did work very well right from the beginning, however, was the operation: "The Payrexx devices are very intuitive and easy to use. Really everyone got the hang of it immediately."

Every year during the season, six POS devices are regularly in use at the Tellspiele. Whether at the popcorn stand, on the intermission cart, in the Tellshop, or at the box office: payment can be made quickly and smoothly almost anywhere with Payrexx card readers. "The amount is typed in, the customer pays, and we can already see the booking in the system the next day," Werner explains. The payout by Payrexx to the Tellspiele, in turn, takes place regularly once a week.
