Payrexx expands management team with COO Fjona Veselji
Fjona Veselji is Head of Operations at Payrexx AG and joined the payment service provider's management team in July 2022. In this interview, she briefly introduces herself and explains the new challenges and opportunities her new role entails.
Fjona Veselji has been part of Payrexx AG, a payment company from Thun, since 2019. As Chief Operating Officer (COO), she takes on an important role in the company and has been a member of the Payrexx AG management team since the beginning of July 2022.
In this interview, she and CEO Ivan Schmid talk about their new role and explain where Payrexx is heading.
Fjona, who are you and what brings you to Payrexx AG?
"I am Fjona, 30 years old and come from the delightful tourist town of Interlaken. I studied at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts and at the South East European University and have a Master of Science in Online Business & Marketing and a Bachelor in Information Systems & Management.
I dedicate my free time to my family, sport and creative pursuits. I love being outdoors in nature and am not afraid to try new things. All these activities give me energy and help me to maintain a healthy work-life balance, which is not always easy in such a management position.
I have always been interested in new and innovative business models and find it fascinating to see how outdated industries are being turned upside down.
The payment industry is a fast-moving and highly controversial market. It requires a high degree of professionalism in a nonetheless relaxed working environment. In addition, the industry is strongly characterized by innovation, technological progress and regulatory requirements.
It was precisely these interests that led me to Payrexx - a payment company in the middle of the Bernese Oberland? What could be more exciting?"

You have been part of the Payrexx management team since July 1, 2022. What exactly is your role at Payrexx and what new challenges are you looking forward to the most?
"At Payrexx, I am responsible for operations and day-to-day business. Among other things, I manage the areas of customer support, onboarding, KYC, compliance and take care of our acquiring partnerships.
It is my responsibility to ensure that day-to-day business runs as smoothly as possible and that operational processes are defined and optimized to ensure maximum efficiency and continuous development.
As a financial intermediary, Payrexx is subject to strict regulatory guidelines. Finding the right balance - always remaining compliant and still being able to offer a simple payment solution - is a major challenge that I enjoy tackling."

Ivan, why was Fjona appointed to the Executive Board?
"Fjona is a very reliable person of integrity who enriches the management of Payrexx with her in-depth specialist knowledge on the one hand, but also with her analytical way of thinking.
As a compliance officer, she also has extensive knowledge of the legal compliance of all payment processes and business procedures within Payrexx."

Payrexx AG was founded in Thun in 2015 and many exciting projects and topics have emerged since then. Fjona, what would you describe as the most important milestones at Payrexx?
"Payrexx is the only payment platform in Switzerland that offers local payment methods such as TWINT, Postfinance, Mastercard, VISA, Samsung Pay, Google Pay and Apple Pay from a single source and with an acceptance contract. Every successful registration before 4 p.m. is checked and activated on the same day.
With over 100+ additional payment methods available on the payment platform, the needs of European merchants are also fully covered.
Payrexx is also one of the few providers to have developed its own payment platform and to offer customized e-commerce tools such as the mini-shop, QR-Pay, payment links, etc. But I see our team as the biggest milestone. Payrexx has an incredible internal doer culture, a very ambitious and professional team that drives the payment world forward with great enthusiasm every day."

Which other projects and topics will become important for Payrexx, or to be more precise, are to be tackled or are already in progress?
"We want to give everyone access to e-commerce commerce with an easy-to-use and integrated payment solution. Automation remains and will remain a major topic; we want to become even faster and better. The expansion of our platform product is also on the agenda. The trend and popularity of marketplaces continues to grow, and Payrexx already offers customized marketplace and platform solutions. We would like to be able to offer even more functions and integration options with third-party systems."

"The success of our users is our top priority! We ensure that digital payments are secure, efficient, integrable and accessible and comply with international standards. We strive to become a leading fintech company in Europe and to be THE payment partner for every innovative and digital SME in Switzerland."
