Find out here how Madame Frigo and Payrexx are working together innovatively and sustainably to fight food waste in Switzerland.

In Switzerland, almost one-third of all produced food ends up in the waste annually (2.8 million tons per year), which has far-reaching and unnecessary consequences for animals, humans, and our planet.
The non-profit association Madame Frigo is therefore committed to fighting food waste in Switzerland with public refrigerators and awareness measures. True to the motto "Plate instead of bin," food can be exchanged at the current 90 locations throughout Switzerland — bring what is no longer needed and take what is still missing at home. Together with over 400 volunteers, more than 100 tons of food were saved last year.
Together against food waste
Despite these great advances, there is still much to do. Therefore, Madame Frigo has set the goal of increasing the number of locations to 150 for 2022! With the help of their current Christmas donation campaign, Madame Frigo wants to achieve this goal as quickly as possible. Each individual donation contributes a part to the fight against food waste and creates a more sustainable future. Additionally, Madame Frigo also raises awareness about food waste through their website and social media to encourage as many people as possible to participate.
“The public refrigerators of Madame Frigo are free and accessible to everyone at any time. That should always remain so.”
For this reason, Madame Frigo relies on donations and support from private individuals and partners to cover their expenses.
What's behind Madame Frigo
To ensure the maintenance of the refrigerators, each Madame Frigo refrigerator is operated by volunteers. They take care of the hygienic maintenance and control of the contents.
For collecting donations, Madame Frigo uses the Donation Tool from Payrexx. With the individual donation form, donations for projects can be collected easily and digitally. Moreover, all desired payment methods like TWINT, Mastercard, Visa, or also invoice are set up with a few clicks. Madame Frigo integrates the donation form directly on their website and also uses it easily as a link on social media.

Another future idea is that Madame Frigo, with the help of the new QR Pay Tools from Payrexx, attaches a QR code to their refrigerators so that people can donate directly on-site using any desired payment method.
