Fewer and fewer people are paying with cash today. Shopping on-site must be fast, uncomplicated, and global – preferably with one's own smartphone. This is shown by the IGEM Digimonitor 2023, the annual study of the Interest Group for Electronic Media Switzerland: According to it, 64 percent of the Swiss population uses mobile payment services like TWINT, Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or Google Pay.

To make this trend accessible to every type of business, the Thun-based start-up Payrexx has developed a new payment solution via QR code – Payrexx QR Pay. The basic principle is similar to that of TWINT: QR codes can be individually created by the merchants and offered to customers for payment. However, Payrexx significantly expands this familiar and popular payment process. The QR codes from Payrexx can not only be scanned via the TWINT app but also directly with the smartphone camera.
