Flower variety with payment variety: That's how florist Ali uses Payrexx QR Pay
The Thun flower shop 'Florist Ali' has been around for 35 years. Until now, loyal regular customers could only pay with cash or on account; thanks to Payrexx QR Pay, they can now pay for their bouquets, arrangements, and wreaths with credit card or via TWINT.

With a skilled hand, Florentyna Hödl plucks one flower after another from the pots. Roses, tulips, freesias, violet, orange, white. With her right hand, she holds the plants, with her left she steadily adds new ones. "The right grip is the be-all and end-all for a beautiful bouquet," she explains and then strides briskly to the back of the shop, "if it's not held correctly, it will be nothing." Her apprentice, Noëlle Locher, could actually do it much better, the manager says with a smile, but she's a few meters away, busy with a large arrangement. Fingers firmly around the greenery, Hödl now adds various cut greens. So step by step, flower by flower, leaf by leaf, a small work of art is created.
Fifty francs will be the cost of the finished arrangement. The owner of the flower shop, Florist Ali, holds nothing of odd amounts. The visit should be simple and uncomplicated, from ordering to paying. The latter has always been the same in the last 35 years that the Thun tradition shop has existed: "Either cash or on account," Hödl summarizes. A model that simply no longer worked in an increasingly digital age, where fewer and fewer people have bills or coins in their pockets.
A quick and appreciated payment solution
A payment solution was needed, something uncomplicated and simple, fitting the young owner's business, who only took over the store from the long-standing owner Stefan Ali in January 2024. So Hödl's father, who always lends a hand with digital matters, contacted Payrexx AG. A company from the same town, he thought, and quickly arranged an appointment for a consultation. And on the agreed day, Mr. Hödl stopped by the Payrexx office – although the appointment was actually supposed to be online. Just like the family's mentality, direct and personal, without unnecessary detours.
On the glass table in front of Florentyna Hödl's cash register stands a stand with a violet background and delicate flower drawings, in the middle a simple QR code and above it the lettering: Scan + pay. "Our customers appreciate very much that we offer Payrexx," explains the florist and starts to work on the ends of her bouquet with pruning shears. Especially the simplicity and speed convince her visitors. Just as quickly as the stems are snipped off, the payment processing works using Payrexx QR Pay.
"Nowadays, everyone is used to working and paying with the smartphone. You always have it with you, just hold it up, scan the code - and zap, done!" – Florentyna Hödl

With credit card or TWINT
In addition comes the variety of payment methods: Not only can Hödl's customers pay with the credit card, but also the payment method especially popular in Switzerland, TWINT, is integrated into the Payrexx tool. Just that a TWINT sticker now hangs on the front door is an argument for many passers-by to shop with her. Hödl's store is centrally located, on the edge of the Thun old town, and therefore attracts not only the loyal regular customers but also pedestrians.
For her as a fresh shop owner, there are also other points in focus, says Florentyna Hödl further. For example, that the collaboration with Payrexx is pleasant - "no detours, no waiting loops, I can just call" - or that the creation of a QR code works intuitively and quickly. "And what is particularly important to me," she adds and puts the finished bouquet in a vase until its pickup, "we don't need a card reader and have only low transaction fees. Payrexx is also a great offer in terms of price."

The team is manageable: besides Florentyna Hödl, the apprentice Noëlle Locher (left) as well as the former owner
Stefan Ali work in the flower shop. And Hödl's parents also help out again and again.
