As part of a comprehensive modernisation of its payment services, PostFinance will migrate the previous payment methods PostFinance E-Finance and PostFinance Card to the integrated solution PostFinance Pay by the end of 2025. The Swiss online payment provider Payrexx is implementing this update immediately for its online shop operators:in and once again demonstrates that it keeps pace with technological developments and offers its customers future-oriented solutions.
“As an online retailer, it is important to be able to offer safe, reliable and user-friendly payment methods. With the update to PostFinance Pay, we want to offer our Comerciante(s) the latest innovations in online payment traffic. Because only those who adapt to the needs of their clientele and the market can make their business model future-proof”, says Ivan Schmid, founder and CEO of Payrexx.
The long-standing close cooperation with PostFinance aims to strengthen the local Swiss market and make online payments even simpler, more efficient and safer for buyers:in and online shop operators:in.
Convenient payment via PostFinance App
With the two old payment methods PostFinance E-Finance and PostFinance Card, customers first had to use the card number or the Kartenlesegerät to pay and then authorise the payment via the PostFinance App, the Kartenlesegerät or using Mobile ID.
With PostFinance Pay, customers in online shops can now easily and conveniently pay directly with the PostFinance App. Payment works similarly to TWINT. After shopping in an online shop, a QR code appears which the customer can scan with the PostFinance App. This eliminates the cumbersome typing of PostFinance Card or E-Finance data.
Despite this modernisation, the PostFinance Card naturally also remains a simple and proven option for customers who prefer to pay without a smartphone. As a Mastercard debit card, it can be used like a credit card – both online and in-store. For online payments, card data can continue to be entered as usual, allowing for flexible and convenient payments.
Attractive benefits and market opportunities for shop operators:in
For online shop operators:in and Swiss SMEs using Payrexx, the update to PostFinance Pay brings several decisive benefits:
Expand market opportunities: PostFinance Pay opens up Payrexx-Comerciante(s) access to approximately one million potential customers who use the PostFinance App.
Fewer payment interruptions: The payment process is simple and secure, preventing payment interruptions and thus generating more revenue.
Automatic age and address verification: The integrated verification of age and address data saves customers time when shopping and is ideal for goods or services subject to age restrictions (e.g. alcohol or tobacco products).
PostFinance Pay is now part of the Payrexx Pay Services, alongside payment methods such as Mastercard, VISA, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and is available to all Comerciante(s). New Payrexx accounts are reviewed and activated on the same day.
The detailed step-by-step instructions for activating and processing PostFinance Pay can be found in the Payrexx support documentation.
