In Switzerland, almost one third of all food produced ends up in waste every year (2.8 million tons per year), which has far-reaching and unnecessary consequences for animals, humans and our planet.
The non-profit association Madame Frigo is therefore campaigning against food waste in Switzerland with public refrigerators and awareness-raising measures. In line with the motto "Plate instead of garbage can", food can be exchanged in the 90 locations throughout Switzerland - bring what is no longer needed yourself and take what is still missing at home. Together with over 400 volunteers, more than 100 tons of food were saved last year.
Together against Food Waste
Despite this great progress, there is still a lot to do. For 2022, Madame Frigo has therefore set itself the goal of increasing the number of locations to 150! With the help of its current Christmas fundraising campaign, Madame Frigo wants to achieve this goal as quickly as possible. Every single donation contributes to the fight against food waste and creates a more sustainable future. Madame Frigo is also raising awareness of food waste via its website and social media to encourage as many people as possible to get involved.

For this reason, Madame Frigo relies on donations and support from individuals and partners to cover its expenses.
This is what is behind Madame Frigo
To ensure the maintenance of the refrigerators, each Madame Frigo refrigerator is run by volunteers. They take care of the hygienic maintenance and the control of the contents.
For the collection of donations, Madame Frigo uses the Donation Tool from Payrexx. With the individual donation form, donations for projects can be collected easily and digitally. In addition, all desired payment methods such as TWINT, Mastercard, Visa or even invoice are set up with just a few clicks.
