Payrexx simplifies payment in online stores with PostFinance Pay

Payrexx is helping PostFinance make the switch: the leading all-in-one payment provider for Swiss SMEs is successfully implementing the new PostFinance Pay payment solution for its customers' online stores. This means that Swiss customers can now pay even more efficiently and in a more modern way.

Payrexx and Visa have worked closely together to make Click to Pay available to merchants

As part of a comprehensive modernization of its payment services, PostFinance is transferring the existing PostFinance e-finance and PostFinance Card payment methods to the integrated solution by the end of 2025. PostFinance Pay. The Swiss online payment provider Payrexx is implementing this update for its online store operators with immediate effect, proving once again that it keeps pace with technological developments and offers its customers future-oriented solutions.

"As an online merchant, it is important to be able to offer secure, reliable and user-friendly payment methods. With the update to PostFinance Pay, we want to offer our merchants the latest innovations in online payment transactions. Because only those who adapt to the needs of their customers and the market can make their business model future-proof," says Ivan Schmid, founder and CEO of Payrexx.

The long-standing close collaboration with PostFinance aims to strengthen the local Swiss market and make online payments even easier, more efficient and more secure for shoppers and online store operators.

Convenient payment via the PostFinance app

With the two old payment methods PostFinance e-finance and PostFinance Card, customers first had to use the card number or the card reader to pay and then authorize the payment via the PostFinance app, the card reader or using Mobile ID.

With PostFinance Pay, customers can now pay easily and conveniently in online stores directly with the PostFinance app. Payment works in a similar way to TWINT. After making a purchase in an online store, a QR code appears, which the customer scans with the PostFinance app. This eliminates the cumbersome process of typing in PostFinance Card or e-finance data.

Despite this modernization, the PostFinance Card naturally remains a simple and proven option for customers who prefer to pay without a smartphone. As a Mastercard debit card, it can be used like a credit card - both online and in stores. For online payments, the card details can still be entered as usual, allowing them to pay flexibly and conveniently.

Attractive benefits and market opportunities for store operators

For online store operators and Swiss SMEs that use Payrexx, the update to PostFinance Pay brings several decisive advantages:

  • Expanding market opportunities: PostFinance Pay gives Payrexx merchants access to around one million potential customers who use the PostFinance app.

  • Fewer payment abandonments: The payment process is simple and secure, which prevents payment abandonment and thus generates more sales.

  • Automatic age and address verification: The integrated verification of age and address data saves customers time when shopping and is ideal for goods or services that are subject to age restrictions (e.g. alcohol or tobacco products).

PostFinance Pay is now part of the Payrexx Pay service, alongside payment methods such as Mastercard, VISA, Apple Pay and Google Pay, and is available to all merchants. New Payrexx accounts will be checked and activated on the same day.

The exact step-by-step instructions for the activation and payment process of PostFinance Pay can be found in the Payrexx support documentation.
